Founded by Mutch Usera Hanshi, Bujin Ki Ryu JuJitsu is first and foremost, an extremely effective system self-defense. Because Bujin Ki Ryu JuJitsu is taught as a complete art, the student has a vast resource of techniques to draw upon to defend him or herself with. In Bujin Ki Ryu JuJitsu, you will find the striking skills of Karate, the throwing skills of Judo, the ground fighting skills of Brazilian JuJitsu, energy control and joint locks of Aikido. At DMA, we do not teach kata or forms as many schools do, but instead teach individual techniques that can be combined in an almost manner, limited only by your knowledge, creativity and understanding of the techniques and how and why they work. A skilled student can create and control the amount of pain their assailant may feel without any injury taking place, or if necessary, he or she can also create sufficient pain and disabling injuries that will make it impossible for the assailant to continue his attack.
Each student is provided with an individualized curriculum and trains in small groups on the skills appropriate for his or her level. At DMA you will not find the large group classes where one instructor is showing 30 people the same form whether they are ready for it or not. Instead, you will work with a partner to refine and perfect your skills with a skilled instructor at your side. This approach allows students to receive instant feedback and correction while learning in a friendly and challenging environment.
Surprisingly, JuJitsu is also a form of relaxation. There is nothing more rejuvenating than letting your developed KI (energy) control your situation on the mat. When developed properly, the movements JuJitsu flow from one movement to the next in a truly beautiful and powerful way. This flow and refinement is what separates a martial art from a brawl and one of the defining characteristics of Bujin Ki Ryu JuJitsu. This artistic expression provides students with an artistic and athletic outlet that allows the stress of life to be set aside for a while and just enjoy being in the moment.
As you develop and train in JuJitsu, you will find the skills you learn on the mat carrying over off the mat as well. The self aware and control gained through training will follow you into school or work, giving you better focus, more self control and improved physical fitness. The confidence you will gain as you find success in the dojo will also carry with you improving your interactions with the people and world around you.
The saying goes, “give a man a fish, he eats for a day. Teach a man to fish and he eats for a lifetime.” We give you the tools of survival in the modern world, rather than a simple meal.
