Julio "Mutch" Usera has studied the art of Jukite (Ju-Kite) JuJitsu since 1972.  
With an 8th Degree Black Belt (Hachidan, Shihan) in the art of Jukite JuJitsu,
Usera earned this level (August, 2007) through the direction of Hanshi George
Alexander, 10th Dan, Shorinji-Ryu JuJitsu and President of the International
Shorinji Ryu JuJitsu Federation, Reliance, TN.  Before Usera studying under
Hanchi Alexander, he was under the leadership of the late Grand Master
Kenneth L. Penland (10th Dan) Shorinji Ryu JuJitsu of Apple Valley, California
for 18 years.

Shihan Usera's rank is certified by the International Shorinji Ryu JuJitsu
Federation. He is also a member of the United States JuJitsu Federation, The
American Federation of JuJitsu, and the Amercian JuJitsu Association.  He is
the highest ranking Black Belt in the art of Jukite JuJitsu.  Usera will continue
his studies of JuJitsu and swordsmanship under the leadership of Hanshi George Alexander.

Shihan Usera is also employed at Black Hills Corporation as the Director of Marketing and Community
Relations.  With over 34 years at BHC, his primary role is to direct, plan and implement the retail marketing
strategies and activities for the Retail Business Units—Black Hills Power and Cheyenne Light, Fuel & Power.  
Other key roles involved the direction, planning, and implementation of community and economic development
activities for the Retail Business Units.  His involvement in local, regional and state-wide organizations include:

A native of Brooklyn, New York, Usera has always been involved in a form of Martial arts or boxing training. His
loyalty towards JuJitsu was influenced by his Sensei, Master Al Salazar, Yodan, Chief Instructor, during the
early 70's. Usera superseded Master Salazar in 1978 as the Chief Instructor of the Rapid City Jukite JuJitsu
School, presently called Dynamic Martial Arts and located in Rapid City.

Shihan Usera operated the Rapid City Jukite JuJitsu Dojo at the Rapid City YMCA until 1999.  During 1997,
Usera changed his school name to Dynamic Martial Arts.  It was his vision to expand the Dojo into a more
diverse place for martial arts study with of styles and philosophies. Thereafter he transferred the Dojo
operations to his son, Joshua, 4th Dan, who presently own and operate Dynamic Martial Arts of Rapid City.

Shihan Usera has promoted over 55 students to Black Belt status during his years as Chief Instructor.  He
currently has five active Black Belt Chief Instructors operating Dojos in South Dakota, Montana and Colorado.

Shihan Usera has always been a promoter for the art of JuJitsu as well as other martial arts systems. He has
promoted tournaments since 1975, which were open to all styles and systems. Tournaments directed under
Usera's direction included: the Black Hills Karate Kicker, Rushmore Karate Championships and The South
Dakota Karate Screamer Classic. In the Martial Arts community, he has promoted the martial arts through his
Master Series Seminar sessions, which invite various martial art Masters to present their system or specialties
to the area's martial artists.

As a competitor, Shihan Usera is known in the Black Hills Martial Art communities as a dynamic participant. He
has placed in the top of point fighting competition in all the tournaments he has entered, including: The Paha
Sapa Karate Championships, Cheyenne Karate Championships, Wyoming Karate Championships, Black Hills
Karate Kicker, and Devils Tower Karate Championships, to name a few.

As the Master Instructor of Jukite JuJitsu, Usera is dedicated to teaching JuJitsu with a positive approach to
mental and physical conditioning as well as a respect to other martial arts systems. He places an emphasis in
proper technique and traditional martial art values, such as desire, respect, loyalty, honesty, sportsmanship,
community, and commitment to your family and God. These are all key tools to mastering any system of the
Martial Arts as well as having a positive balance in life.
